Inspiring High School Wrestler

Meet Caleb Smith. After contracting a rare meningitis-like blood disorder at the age of 3, Caleb's arms and legs were amputated at the elbows and knees. But that didn't stop him from getting into wrestling in fifth grade. This year, the Minnesota teen won his first varsity match for Harding High School in St. Paul. Caleb wrestles at the 120-pound weight class, and head coach Otto Kraus says he's surprisingly strong, despite his lack of limbs.

Caleb's dedication and positive attitude inspire even his opponents, Kraus said. "If you see yourself as not being able to do something, at least you should try and do it," Smith said. "If you never do it at all, you will never know if you can do it or not."

AUDIO Tallmadge Hoping For A Football Rebound

It's not the start that the Tallmadge High School Blue Devils wanted to have.

Tallmadge, one of the favorites to win the Suburban League this football season, has a record of 1-2. The Blue Devils have lost to Ravenna and Ellet, while defeating the Garfield Golden Rams 35-14.

Blue Devils head coach Joe Vassalotti says his team will be ready for Suburban League play this week when they host the Revere Minutemen.

Vassalotti says one of the reasons they lost to Ravenna and Ellet was the lack of a running game. Vassalotti says the Blue Devils are known for a strong running game and they need to get back to that.

Vassalotti says even though Revere is 0-3 on the season, they will play hard and bring with them a strong rushing attack.

You'll be able to hear Friday night's game between Tallmadge and Revere on 1590 WAKR beginning at 7 pm.
