Former University of Akron men’s basketball player Quade Milum was named as one of 10 members of the Harlem Globetrotters’ 2012 rookie class the team announced on Friday. Milum was a four-year letterwinner for the Zips from 2005-08.
The 2012 rookie class includes the world’s tallest pro basketball player, the shortest Globetrotter ever and the team’s first female player in nearly two decades.
Joining Milum, who has added the nickname “Quake,” in the newest class includes Paul “Tiny” Sturgess, a 7-8 center from Mountain State University (W.Va.), Jonte “Too Tall” Hall, from Catonsville Community College (Md.), the shortest player in Globetrotter history at 5-2 and Fatima “TNT” Maddox, a 5-6 star out of Temple University, who is the team’s first female player since 1993, among others.
In four years at Akron, Milum finished with 499 career points and 273 rebounds, ranks eight in blocked shots in a career (65) and tied for ninth in blocked shots for a season (35).
