AKRON, Ohio – Woodridge softball’s magical run came to a close Thursday at Firestone Stadium. The Bulldogs were edged by Division II defending state champion Poland Seminary 3-2 in the Akron Regional semifinal. The game was scoreless until the top of the of the fourth inning when Poland (also known as the Bulldogs) scored a pair of runs off three hits and wild pitch by Woodridge ace Amy Donze, who sat down the next three batters after Poland’s burst. Poland (26-2) added another run in the fifth and looked to be cruising behind the pitching of senior pitcher Erin Gabriel. Copyright 2012 SportsInk. All rights reserved.
