PENINSULA, Ohio – The Crestwood Red Devils gave the host Woodridge Bulldogs, ranked fourth in the state in Division II by the OHSFSCA, all they could handle, but in the end senior pitcher Amy Donze did what great players are supposed to do – make plays when it matters most to lead Woodridge to a 3-2 win in nine innings. Donze’s final, and biggest, act of heroics came on the first pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning when the pitcher lined Crestwood (10-5) ace Alex McKinley’s pitch over the wall in left field for a walk-off home run. Donze said she knew she had to do something to spark her team. “I knew that it was the ninth inning and the heart of their order was coming up, so I knew that we were going to have to score that inning,” Donze said.
