Joe Robbins/Getty Images(FOXBOROUGH) -- Olympic silver medalist and former Florida Gators running back Jeff Demps will sign with the New England Patriots, according to multiple sources.

Demps skipped the NFL scouting combine last February to prepare for the Olympics.

He proceeded to win a silver medal at the London Olympics as part of the men's 4x100 meter relay team that finished second to Jamaica.

The 5-foot-8 170 pound Demps, rushed for 569 yards, averaging 5.8 yards a carry, and six touchdowns for the Gators last season.

Several other teams were looking at Demps including the Patriots' AFC East rival, the  New York Jets.
