Rockies Designate Jamie Moyer for Assignment Christian Petersen/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- The 2012 season may go down as bitter sweet for pitcher Jamie Moyer. At age 49, Moyer became the oldest player in Major League history to record a win and the oldest ever to record an RBI, but his 25-year career very well may be over. The Colorado Rockies have designated Moyer for assignment.

Moyer missed the entire 2011 season because of Tommy John Surgery, but managed to work his way back and earned a spot in the Rockies' starting rotation during spring training. Moyer started off well, but struggled as of late. For the season, Moyer went 2-5 with a 5.70 ERA with the Rockies. Despite his latest setback, Moyer said he has no plans to retire just yet.

"It's a tough pill to swallow but it's part of the business," Moyer said in a news conference. "Unfortunately I didn't hold up to my end of the bargain. That's what happens in the game."

If this truly is the end for Moyer, he will end his career 269-209 with a 4.25 ERA. He won a World Series with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008.
