Yankees Sign John Maine to Minor League Deal Jim McIsaac/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- The New York Yankees are looking for some help in the back-end of their rotation and on Friday they signed former Mets pitcher John Maine to a minor league deal.

Maine last pitched in the majors with the Mets in 2010 and posted a 7.43 ERA in 45 innings with the Colorado Rockies' Triple-A team before leaving the organization last June.

But with the Yankees in need of a spark, it's worth a shot for general manager Brian Cashman.

"He's interested in trying to get back to the big leagues, so we will see," Cashman said Friday.

Maine's major league career started back in 2004, but has suffered shoulder injuries throughout. His best season with the Mets was in 2007 when he went 15-10 with a 3.91 ERA.

For his career, Maine is 41-36 with a 4.35 ERA.  He signed with the Red Sox in January, but did not pitch in the minors and was released this month.
