(LOS ANGELES) -- Dodgers second baseman Mark Ellis underwent emergency surgery Saturday, to remove pressure on his left leg. He is expected to miss six weeks.
Los Angeles put the 34-year-old Ellis on the 15-day disabled list, and recalled infielder Ivan DeJesus from Triple A- Albuquerque.
Ellis was injured during Friday night’s game against St. Louis when Cardinals infielder Tyler Greene slid into him, trying to beat an out.
Ellis is batting .273 with two home runs and nine RBIs in 37 games this season.
