Predators Take 2-1 Series Lead Over Red Wings Gregory Shamus/Getty Images(DETROIT) -- Detroit might be hockey town USA, but on Sunday, the day belonged to the Nashville Predators as they defeated the Red Wings 3-2 to take a 2-1 series lead in their opening round playoff matchup.

Despite the heavy boos from the crowd, Predators defenseman Shea Webber scored the game's opening goal. Weber was fined $2,500 by the NHL after smashing Henrik Zetterberg's face into glass in game one of the series.

"We talk about great players when there's a little bit of controversy stepping up," Predators coach Barry Trotz said. "When he came to the rink, he knew he wasn't going to be the most likeable player in the arena."

In the second period, the Predators took a 2-0 lead when Kevin Klein scored off an assist from Martin Erat. Sergei Kostitsyn scored early in the third period to take a 3-1 lead and there was no looking back.

Despite a late goal from Zetterberg, Predators goalie Pekka Rinne allowed just two goals and made 43 saves in the win.

Game three will be played Tuesday night in Detroit.
