Scott Clarke/ESPN(CHAMPAIGN, Ill.) -- Illinois has hired Toledo head coach Tim Beckman as its new head coach.  Beckman replaces Ron Zook, who was fired after seven seasons.  The team, 6-6 on the season, will face UCLA in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl.

Beckman finished with a 21-16 record over three seasons at Toledo, which went 8-4 this season and will take on Air Force in the Military Bowl.
