David Ortiz Will Accept Arbitration, Return To Red Sox: Report G Fiume/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Big Papi is staying in Beantown. According to ESPNDeportesLosAngeles.com, designated hitter David Ortiz is expected to accept salary arbitration from the Boston Red Sox.

Last season, Ortiz earned $12.5 million and could get a 1-year contract worth as much as $15 million in arbitration. According to sources, the team offered Ortiz a 2-year $18 million contract, but pulled the offer prior to offering arbitration to Ortiz.

The 36-year old Ortiz has spent 14 seasons in the major leagues, and has spent the past nine in Boston. Ortiz has been one of the faces of the Red Sox since he joined the organization, and helped lead the team to World Series titles in 2004 and 2007. This past season, Ortiz batted .309, hit 29 home runs, and drove in 96 RBIs.
