FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) -- Ohio State assistant football coach Taver Johnson will be in charge of linebackers on Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino's staff.

Petrino announced Sunday that Johnson had been hired as an assistant head coach for the Razorbacks.

Johnson spent five seasons with Ohio State, which compiled a 50-15 record during his tenure and won four Big Ten titles. Ohio State finished with a 12-1 record in 2010 and a victory in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Johnson briefly served as the defensive line coach with the Oakland Raiders after five years at Miami (Ohio), and he spent a year with the Cleveland Browns as special teams coach.

He was the linebacker coach and defensive coordinator at Millikin University, an NCAA Division III school, and was a graduate assistant at Notre Dame in 1999.
