iStockPhoto/Thinkstock(CAIRO) -- Two Americans have been kidnapped in Egypt.
The American embassy in Cairo tell ABC News the two men were kidnapped on Wednesday in the lawless Sinai peninsula.
An Egyptian media report says they left their hotel in a Red Sea resort town in the evening. They are believed to have been kidnapped by Bedouins calling for the release of a fellow tribesman, a drug trafficker.
Lawlessness in the Sinai has been on the rise since the fall of President Hosni Mubarak. There is an al Qaeda presence, though they don't appear to be involved with this kidnapping.
