iStockphoto/Thinkstock(SANAA, Yemen) -- A suicide bomb attack targeting a military parade in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa Monday has left dozens dead, according to multiple reports.
The explosion is believed to have been carried out by someone dressed in a Yemeni army uniform who infiltrated a practice drill soldiers were conducting to celebrate Yemen’s National Day on Tuesday.
A witness at the scene told ABC News people were seen being blown apart.
Monday's attack comes as the Yemeni military has stepped up its offensive against members of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula with the assistance of U.S. unmanned drones.
In a phone call, the militant group Ansar al-Sharia claimed responsibility for the bombings, saying it was retaliation for the Yemeni Army's attacks and U.S. drone strikes in the south.
