Pricetag for Ohio St scandal advice: $400,000-plus

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Records show Ohio State paid nearly $270,000 to a Chicago PR firm to help it manage publicity stemming from the university's memorabilia-for-cash scandal.

The university also paid a consulting company with experience in NCAA investigations more than $160,000 for its expertise.

The athletic department's total costs for the NCAA investigation into Ohio State's football program are about $800,000 so far.

Records released by the university Friday show Ohio State paid Chicago-based Kekst and Co. $267,000 for help with public relations.

The university also paid The Compliance Group of Lenexa, Kansas $162,000 for help dealing with the compliance problems uncovered by the scandal.
