COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Authorities say a section of a downtown Columbus street has been closed because of parts of a roof dropped off a building.

Media reports said East State Street between 6th Street and Grant Avenue was closed Sunday after large parts of the crumbling roof of a 6th Street building fell to the sidewalk.

The building was an old Boys and Girls Club location that closed in 2008. A Catholic organization took up the space after it closed.

Fire crews cordoned off the area to protect pedestrians. It was not clear how long the road would be shut down or what will happen to the building.
