COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Ohio state officials say more than 250 people have been arrested for impaired driving during a two-day period over the Fourth of July holiday.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says most arrests came from the state's central counties. Officials marked the tally from the start of Tuesday through the end of Wednesday.

Patrol officials say impaired driving includes people under the influence of alcohol, drugs or both. Colonel John Born said in a statement Thursday that impaired driving is a significant threat to Ohio residents.

Four people also were killed during the holiday period, but there wasn't additional information available about the fatalities.
