VERMILION, Ohio (AP) -- An Ohio police department is holding a memorial service for a police dog that died after a fall during a training exercise.

Saturday's services are being held at the Vermilion Elementary School gym and are expected to include other police dogs and their handlers.

The Vermilion Police Department has released few details about the accident, saying only that the dog, Andy, died Monday night.

The Sandusky Register reports ( http://bit.ly/LCxAYW ) that Sandusky police are investigating the incident, during which witnesses reported seeing police cruisers from multiple agencies heading through the Huron area.
