Ohio backers marking school choice anniversary

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Ohio backers of school choice are marking an important court victory.

On Monday in Cleveland, the 10th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling upholding Cleveland's school voucher program will be marked by key individuals who were involved.

The court ruling in 2002 upheld the experimental program allowing Cleveland youngsters to attend non-public schools with state-paid tuition vouchers.

It was intended as an alternative to poor-performing Cleveland schools.

Voucher advocate Ken Starr will headline the anniversary event.
