Kentucky to face Kent State in NCAA Tournament

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- The Kentucky Wildcats was selected as a No. 2 seed for the NCAA Tournament and will open the tournament on Friday against No. 3 seed Kent State.

Kentucky will make its seventh all-time appearance in the college baseball tournament and their first appearance since 2008. Kentucky finished their regular season with a 43-16 record, the best season in the history of the program, and finished third overall in the Southeastern Conference.

The regional round is hosted by No. 1 seed Purdue, but the games will be played at the U.S. Steel Yard, home of the Gary Southshore RailCats.

Kent State (47-17) will be playing in its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament.
