CLEVELAND (AP) -- An Ohio sheriff's deputy is being investigated after two women reported him following them in a Cleveland park on a day that he called in sick.
The Plain Dealer ( http://bit.ly/qzAxKK ) reports that deputy Paul Lawrence is being investigated by park rangers after two 19-year-old women said they saw him watching them from pine trees last week. The women say his car later passed them several times.
Cleveland Metroparks spokeswoman Dianna Kall tells the newspaper that rangers are investigating other complaints involving Lawrence. She says a two-week investigation is not out of the ordinary.
Sheriff's spokesman John O'Brien confirmed that Lawrence took a sick day on the date of the incident and is now on paid leave, pending the investigation.
The newspaper reports that Lawrence could not be reached for comment.
