DAYTON, Ohio (AP) -- Jury selection is set to begin in the trial of an Atlanta-based civil rights organization's former chairman on 51 felony charges including grand theft involving a meal program for older poor people in southwest Ohio.

Jury selection in the trial of the Rev. Raleigh Trammell (Trah-MEHL') begins Thursday in a Dayton courtroom.

The former local president and national chairman of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference was indicted in January 2011 on one charge of grand theft and 25 counts each of forgery and tampering with government documents.

The prosecutor's office said the alleged crimes from 2005 through 2010 involved meals that Montgomery County officials paid Trammell for but weren't delivered.

Trammell lost his leadership roles at the Dayton and national SCLC levels in 2010.
