COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Ohio authorities have closed a busy street in downtown Columbus to investigate what they say are two suspicious packages left outside a 41-story building that houses state offices.

Capt. Shawn Davis of the State Highway Patrol says police found two duffel bags outside of the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower around 1:30 p.m. Monday. He says no one has claimed ownership of the bags.

Davis says the Columbus police bomb squad is on the scene as a precaution. He says nothing has led authorities to believe the bags are a threat.

A message left with Columbus police was not immediately returned.

The state's Department of Administrative Services says the building's basement, first three floors and tunnel to the parking garage were evacuated as a precaution.
