CLEVELAND (AP) -- Time is winding down in the auction for a huge yellow diamond known as the "Golden Eye" that was seized in a money laundering investigation in Ohio.

As of 6 a.m. EDT Thursday, the gem now held by U.S. marshals in Cleveland had attracted a top bid of more than $1.5 million, out of four bids submitted.

The auction closes Thursday at 3 p.m. It began Tuesday with a minimum starting bid of $900,000.

The 43.51-carat diamond belonged to a northeastern Ohio businessman who was convicted of money laundering and conspiracy. Prosecutors say he tried to sell the rock and an estate once owned by boxer Mike Tyson to an undercover FBI agent for $19.5 million and a boat.

The diamond was seized and forfeited to the government.
