CINCINNATI (AP) -- A Reds fan who saw a record 75-consecutive Opening Day games in Cincinnati has died.

Paul Minnick's streak that began in 1936 ended this year when he was too week to see the Reds opener in March. His son says that Minnick's nurse wouldn't let him go the game.

The family says Minnick of Fairfield died Tuesday at age 93.

A Reds spokesman tells The Cincinnati Enquirer ( http://cin.ci/Ih3tRE ) that Minnick's 75-year streak is eight better than the next closest fan.

Minnick attended his first Opening Day at Crosley Field when he was a high school senior in Hamilton.

His family says that Minnick was a good slow-pitch softball pitcher and once gave up a home run to Reds legend Ted Kluszewski in an exhibition softball game against the Reds.
