FLINT, Mich. (AP) -- Flint-based-based McLaren Health Care says it has reached a deal to buy a 34,500-member Medicaid health maintenance organization from an Ohio company.
McLaren said Thursday that it plans to acquire the Lansing-based CareSource Michigan from Dayton, Ohio-based CareSource.
McLaren says the Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation must review and approve the deal, a process expected to take 90 days.
If it gets approval, McLaren says it plans to merge the operations of CareSource Michigan with its Flint-based McLaren Health Plan.
The purchase would expand McLaren Health Plan's Medicaid managed care operations from 30 to 53 of Michigan's 83 counties.
