HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (AP) -- One of three candidates to become the next president of Northern Kentucky University has dropped out of consideration.
University spokesman Christopher Cole says David L. Eisler announced over the weekend he was withdrawing. Eisler is president of Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich.
The NKU board of regents are meeting Tuesday to consider the remaining candidates. They are Frostburg (Md.) State University President Jonathan C. Gibralter and Cleveland State University Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Geoffrey S. Mearns.
All three men have visited the Highland Heights campus in recent weeks as the university looks for a successor to James C. Votruba, who has been president since 1997. He announced last year he would retire this summer.
