COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Hundreds of mourners have gathered to remember a soldier who died in Afghanistan earlier this month.
Army Staff Sgt. Christopher Brown was killed April 3 while on a walking patrol in the Kunar province of northeastern Afghanistan.
It was the fourth overseas tour for the 26-year-old Brown.
The Columbus Dispatch reported Saturday ( http://bit.ly/JecsAn ) that Brown's wife related how in their last conversation Brown said he was proud she was his wife.
Ariell Taylor-Brown told about 300 people at the Aladdin Shrine Center in Columbus that she was proud he was her husband.
Brown, who grew up in Toledo and Columbus and was based at Fort Carson, Colo., is scheduled to be buried Wednesday in Pensacola, Fla.
