HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) -- Authorities say a police officer was injured when a car sideswiped his cruiser during a traffic stop in southwest Ohio.

Butler County's sheriff says New Miami police Officer Pat Fackey had stopped a pickup truck for a minor traffic offense and was in his cruiser finishing paperwork when the crash occurred Tuesday. Fackey was taken to a hospital for injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Sheriff Richard Jones says the car that struck Fackey's cruiser traveled a short distance before going off the road. Jones says 20-year-old driver Jake Cordero of Hamilton was arrested on charges including leaving the scene of an accident, driving under suspension and several other misdemeanors.

Jail officials said Cordero did not have an attorney Tuesday evening.
