CANTON, Ohio (AP) -- An auction of historic stone stables built in northeast Ohio for the horses of industrialist Henry Timken Sr. has failed to attract any bidders.

The Repository of Canton reports (http://bit.ly/HcAWvs ) the Monday sheriff's sale of Timken Stables had a minimum bid of $222,667 required by mortgage holder PNC Bank.

A Canton Museum of Art executive says the building is rare with round stables and four castle turrets. The head of The Canton Preservation Society says he's concerned for the site's future and hopes it can eventually become a tourist stop.

The property's owner owes the bank about $503,000 and had operated the Stables Restaurant and Hall of Fame Grille at the site.

The building dating to the early 1900s also failed to attract a buyer in 2009 and last year.
