SPARTA, Ky. (AP) -- Officials at Kentucky Speedway are unveiling plans to avoid a repeat of the traffic gridlock that marred Kentucky's premiere auto race.

Gov. Steve Beshear is expected to join track officials for Tuesday's announcement of parking and infrastructure improvements at the northern Kentucky track.

The track's entry into NASCAR's top series was overshadowed by massive traffic jams that deprived some fans of seeing the July race. Track officials and Beshear promised to fix the problems that served as an embarrassing start to Kentucky's role in the Sprint Cup Series.

The Kentucky Enquirer reported last week that the track purchased a 219-acre piece of land near the facility.

Speedway officials blamed part of the problem on parking lots reaching capacity faster than anticipated when more than 107,000 fans converged on the venue.
