Ravenna senior running back D.J. Jones is the Div. III offensive player of the year for the Northeast Ohio Inland District. Jones is seen here in a regional quarterfinal against Southeast. Pirate leader Steve Sigworth is the district coach of the year.

Five SportsInk.com football teams (St. Vincent-St. Mary, Ravenna, Southeast, Black River and Manchester) from Divisions III and IV reached the state playoffs in 2011.

Those teams were rewarded with a bevy of first and second team and honorable mention selections on the Northeast Ohio Inland All-District Teams.

Senior running back D.J. Jones broke Ravenna school records for rushing yards in a season (2,433) and touchdowns (35) in a stellar campaign that led the Ravens (9-3) to their first playoff victory in school history and a trip to the regional semifinals.  For his efforts, Jones was named the Division III Northeast Ohio Inland District Offensive Player of the Year.  Leading the way for Jones was first team offensive lineman Matt Benson and senior fullback Dylan Tirpak, who was selected to the district first team as a middle linebacker.

Southeast coach Steve Sigworth led the Pirates to the Portage Trail Conference County Division title and a 10-0 regular season in their first year in the smaller PTC division.  In leading Southeast (10-1) to a playoff berth, Sigworth was named the Division III coach of the year.  The Pirates had two players make the first team in sophomore offensive lineman Nathaniel Devers and senior running back Tylor Brokaw.

St. Vincent-St. Mary tied Ravenna for most first teamers with three.  Wide receiver Jordan Hargrove, quarterback Kevin Besser and linebacker Tyler Bischof all earned honors for coach Dan Boarman's Irish.

St. V-M (10-3) advanced to the Division III, Region 9 championship game before falling to Chagrin Falls.

In Division IV, the Streetsboro Rockets had three players make the All-District first team with running back Dorian Williams, defensive lineman Alex Todd and linebacker Brandon Gency.  Manchester and Black River both had two first team selections. Quarterback Nick Peyakov, a 2,000-yard passer, and offensive lineman Tony Matteo, a West Virginia commit, both won honors for the Panthers (7-4), while 6-foot-5 two-way end John Guilford, a first-team All-Ohioan in 2010, and sophomore running back Andrew Vaughn were the Pirate awardees.

Black River (9-3) made its first playoff appearance since 2003 and gained the first tournament football win for the Patriot Athletic Conference in seven years since inception.
