Jesse Grant/WireImage(NEW YORK) -- Shepard Fairey, the artist who created the iconic image of President Obama in 2008, pleaded guilty Friday in federal court in Manhattan to a count of criminal contempt.
He admitted to destroying documents, manufacturing evidence and other misconduct related to a lawsuit against the Associated Press, which owns the image in question.
Court records say the image generated $3 million for Fairey. He faces a maximum of six months in prison.
