Teen Charged In Lodi Stabbings

A teen is now in custody as Lodi police investigate the stabbing of his parents and sibling.

Just before 2 a.m. Thursday, Lodi Police received a call regarding the incident on Evergreen Drive.

When police and sheriff deputies arrived, they found three victims; Barbara Nemeth, 47, Robert Nemeth, 47 and their 15-year old son.

The other son, a 16-year-old, is now in custody. Police say he allegedly attacked his brother, father, who told police he tried to intervene, and his mother, after she walked downstairs to the first floor of the home.

"The mother of the suspect called 911 and reported that her son had attacked the family," Keith Keough said, Lodi police chief.

The 15-year old was taken to Akron Children's Hospital for treatment. Mr. Nemeth was taken to Akron General Medical Center. Mrs. Nemeth was treated and released from a nearby medical center.

The 16-year-old is charged with two attempted murder charges and one charge of felonious assault. He's in the custody of the Medina County Juvenile Detention Center.

Police are still investigating the motive.

Ravenna Vehicle Theft Suspect Found

Portage County Sheriff David W. Doak announced today the arrest of 29 year-old Thomas L. Ingram Jr. of Ravenna. The arrest came as a result of an anonymous tip made to the Portage County Sheriffs Office that came because an earlier press release.

Sheriff Doak reports that over the last several weeks there has been an increase in the reports received by the Sheriffs Office concerning thefts from vehicles.

This has been primarily in the Ravenna Township area centered around the Lakewood / SR 59 area.

During the investigations of these thefts, Ingram was identified as being one of the primary subjects involved. Ingram is a known abuser of illegal drugs and it is believed Ingram was using the proceeds from the thefts to fund his drug habit.

The investigation into these thefts is ongoing with additional charges expected to be filed and additional suspects to be charged.

Some of the stolen items have been recovered and the Detective Bureau is currently working on identifying the owners and will be in contact with them to return the property.

It was learned that Ingram was staying at a motel in Cuyahoga Falls.  With the assistance of Cuyahoga Falls Police, Ingram was taken into custody without incident. 

Ingram will be transported to the Portage County Jail where he will be served with his warrants.  Ingram will be held without bond until his initial court appearance to be held at 1:15 PM on Monday, October 17, 2011 at the Ravenna Courthouse.

Warrant Issued For Shooting Suspect

A warrant has been issued for a 26-year-old Akron man suspected of a shooting on Thursday morning.

The shooting happened around 10:30 Thursday morning on the 800 block of McKinley Avenue.

Kennard Gay of Nokomis Avenue fired multiple shots at a 32-year-old male while inside of a car.

The victim was not struck by any bullets but was cut by glass from a car window. The victim only suffered minor injuries.

Gay faces charges of felonious assault and attempted murder. Police consider the suspect armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspect are asked to contact the Akron Police Department.
