A family of six escaped an early morning house fire in Bath Township. Firefighters were called to the burning home shortly before midnight on the 2400 block of Farmstead Road.
One man was injured while trying to get his wife and four children out of the house; he was taken to a local hospital along with four others. Damages estimated at $125,000.

(Bath Township Fire Department) On February 14th, 2012 at 11:34 pm Bath Fire Department had a residential fire at 2485 Farmstead Road.
The residence was occupied by 6 family members. Bath Fire Department with 5 apparatus and automatic response from Richfield Fire Department and Fairlawn Fire Department responded with 23 personnel to the residence. The fire was located on the back porch and mechanical room of the home. All family members had evacuated the home at the time of the arrival of the fire department. Five of the family members were transported to the hospital for medical evaluation.
The fire was extinguished with 120 gallons of water. The fire caused substantial damage to the exterior of the home and the mechanical room in the basement, the remainder of the home sustained smoke damage through out. The damage is estimated at approximately $125,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the fire department and the insurance company.
No injuries were sustained by any fire service personnel.
Fire officials are investigating a vacant house fire that caused damage to a neighboring Akron home late Tuesday night.
News Channel 5 reports the fire happened shortly before midnight on the corner of West Thornton Street and Norka Street.

The vacant house fire caused significant damage to the home next door. A mother and her three children lived inside the home. They were able to safely escape the fire and call 911.
The woman told NewsChannel 5 that the house had been vacant for about six months.
No injuries were reported.

Copley Township firefighters battled an early morning house fire on Rothrock Circle.
Fire officials say it happened around 2 a.m. where they found smoke and a fire behind the home.
Several fire departments helped with getting the fire under control including crews in Fairlawn, Norton and Sharon townships.
No injuries were reported. Officials say the home was not a total loss and are still assessing the damages.
The fire is still under investigation.
A man died Saturday evening in a Ravenna house fire.
WEWS NewsChannel 5 reports that firefighters were called to the home on South Meridian Street at just before 9 PM Saturday.
Fire investigators say 51 year-old Frank Jones was transported to Robinson Memorial Hospital, where he died as a result of injuries sustained in the fire.
An autopsy will determine the cause of death. That autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
The fire triggered mutual aid responses from four nearby fire departments - Kent, Mantua, Rootstown and Charlestown.
There are no other reports of injuries, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A Canton man is dead after a house fire Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators say Daniel F. Anthony, 55, died in the fire that they suspect him of starting.
The Canton Repository reports Anthony was charged with arson for a house fire two years ago. He was found not guilty by reason of insanity.
Neighbors of Anthony told the Repository that he was troubled and believed others were trying to kill him.
A concerned store owner across the street called police after Anthony said someone was trying to poison him.
The fire started after authorities arrived at his home.
Firefighters believe the fire is arson, but they are still investigating the incident.

Firefighters battled a vacant house fire in Akron's Kenmore neighborhood on Saturday night.
The Akron Fire Department says that the fire at 1004 Florida Avenue broke out in the two-unit house at around 10:30 p.m. The fire started on the first floor of the home, and caused heavy damage to that floor...and moderate damage to the second floor.
That damage is estimated at about $25,000, to the home valued at $40,000.
The home is located near an expressway on-ramp at Kenmore Boulevard to the Kenmore leg of the Akron expressway system.
No one was injured in the blaze, according to Akron firefighters.
The cause is under investigation.
