An Akron company will pay $260,000 as part of a settlement in a case filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. It stems from complaints by two female workers in that they weren't being paid the same as men who hold comparable positions at Health Management Group, Inc. of Montrose.
The Plain Dealer reports that the EEOC tried to negotiate with the company, but filed a lawsuit on behalf of Krishna McCollins and Donna Davidson when those talks didn't progress.
The settlement includes the back pay and training for all employees about the Equal Pay Act. Health Management Group is the parent company of Physicians Weight Loss Centers and Diet Center Worldwide.
