A Portage County mother and her live-in boyfriend have been arrested after severe bruising was found on the body of the woman's 2 year-old female child.
Portage County sheriff's deputies arrested the mother, 25 year-old Jamie Gardner, and the boyfriend, 26 year-old William Hardy, both of Palmyra Township, at their temporary residence at the Eastwood Motel in Franklin Township on Friday evening.
Deputies say Gardner's mother, the child's grandmother, picked up the 2 year-old when asked to take care of her, and immediately noticed severe bruising to the child's face and body.
The girl was transported to Robinson Memorial Hospital, and sheriff's detectives were notified, resulting in the arrest of Gardner and Hardy.
Hardy, the live-in boyfriend, is not the father of the child.
Both face second degree felony charges of felonious assuault, and a court date Monday afternoon in Ravenna. They're being held in the Portage County Jail.
