West Akron saw The Ringing of the Bells inside an area church on Sunday.

St. Sebastian Church at Hawkins and Mull held a "Spring Ring" featuring some 90 bell ringers from a number of area churches.

St. Sebastian music director Lynn Frey-Steward says it helps get people together at area churches...musically...

"This is great fellowship for all of us," Frey-Steward tells AkronNewsNow.com. "At the end of the Easter season we all need to come together and have some time together and just ring...just ring...we love to ring."

Frey-Steward describes the program.

"We have eight hand bell choirs from all demoninations, and (today) we are doing a festival," Frey-Steward told AkronNewsNow.com shortly before Sunday's performance. "We are coming together to ring three major pieces together as a group, and then everybody gets a solo group."

Frey says she and St. Sebastian got together with St. Joseph Catholic Church music director Melissa Moreno to get the ball rolling.

Chuck Kobb, music director at First Presbyterian Church and conductor of the Summit Bell Ringers, was a guest conductor for Sunday's program.
