Akron Police Arrest Robbery Suspects

Akron Police have made two arrests in connection with two separate robberies in the city.

29-year old Justin M Harris, of Summit Road in Norton, was charged with Aggravated Robbery and Kidnapping. Harris allegedly entered the Little Caesars on East Ave and fired one round and demanded money. He then forced two employees to the rear of the store at gun point and took one employees wallet before running out the back door.

28-year old Joseph Burnett,of Copley Road in Akron was charged with Aggravated Robbery, Kidnapping, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Weapons under Disability. Joseph allegedly entered the Dollar General on Vernon Odom Boulevard and demanded cash at gun point. He ordered employees to the back of the store demanding they open the safe. When an officer entered the store Burnett fled out the back door. Joseph Burnett was apprehended and found to have a weapon on Dover Ave.

Akron Boys Charged With Robbery

Two young boys have been arrested for robbing a man while he was shoveling snow.

Police say a 9-year-old and 13-year-old approached the man in the 800 block of Ruth Avenue around 3PM Thursday. One of the boys pulled a gun from his waistband, pointed it at the victim, and demanded money.

The victim fled, and so did the suspects, but the juveniles returned minutes later and asked for more money.The victim told them he didn't have any, and the two two fled again.

Both were arrested near Vernon Odom Boulevard and Mallison Avenue. Officers also recovered two BB guns that looked very realistic.

The boys remain in juvenile custody.

Another weekend and more shootings in Akron.             

The first occured around 3 Sunday morning at the Play Pen Bar, in the 25-hundred block Romig Road. Akron Police report a large fight in the parking lot escalated into gunfire. After officers broke up several fights and arrested a couple of suspects, a 28 year old man showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim reported he was shot outside the Play Pen He was transported to the hospital by a friend. His injuries appear to be non-life threatening.
The victim did not have a description of the suspect. No arrests have been made. The shooting remains under investigation.

The second shooting happened around 4:30 Sunday morning at Vernon Odom Boulevard and Harmon Avenue where cops found a man shot in the chest. He is in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Detectives later learned the actual shooting happened at Vernon Odom and Frederick Boulevard.         

No suspects have been identified or arrested.
