Teen Busted for Pot Drop Off

A Uniontown teen faces drug-related charges for dropping off marijuana at a pharmacy.

The Summit County Sheriff's Office reports the 17-year old left a bottle labeled as medication at a Coventry Township Rite Aid drug store at 2 p.m. on Thursday.

Deputies say marijuana was found inside the bottle.

The teen faces drug possession charges.

Akron Police Investigate Fatal Car Crash

Akron police and the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office are investigating the traffic death of a 70-year-old Uniontown man Tuesday evening.

It happened around 6:40 p.m. when Jim Youngson was driving his 1990 Chevy pick-up southbound on Coventry Street

He drove over a guardrail, traveled down an embankment and entered the southbound lanes of Interstate 77.

Youngson struck several other vehicles before hitting a concrete barrier.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled for today.

A woman involved in a traffic accident early this year that killed a Uniontown Police Capt. Dan Stiles has been found guilty on the charge of vehicular manslaughter.

Sandra Boyes, 40,  pleaded no contest Canton Municipal Court Tuesday and will not spend any jail time after entering the plea deal.

The judge sentenced Boyes to 90 days in jail and suspended all but 45 days of the jail term. Boyes will spend the 45 days under electronically monitored house arrest starting on September 1, 2011.

Judge Stephen Belden also suspended her driver's license for two year granting her limited driving privileges. Boyes will also preform 200 hours of community service.

Captain Dan Stiles was struck while directing traffic at the intersection of Route 619 and Kaufman Avenue on February 15.
