A Canton woman is dead after the car she was riding in went off the road and overturned.

State troopers at the Canton Patrol Post say Victoria Wells, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene off 12th Street N.W. near Bowen Avenue in Perry Township.

The car, driven by Kasey Schilling, 18, of Massillon, left the road just before 12:30 a.m., overturned and struck a guardrail and a ditch.  Neither were wearing seatbelts and both were thrown from the SUV. 

Schilling was taken to Mercy Medical Center for her injuries.  Troopers say she may have been speeding when the crash happened.  It's still under investigation.
