Wadsworth Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash early this morning.
Just before 1am a Wadsworth police officer observed two motorcycles traveling south bound on High Street at what appeared to be a high rate of speed. The officer pulled behind the motorcycles at which time they slowed down and turned into the Drug Mart Plaza. The officer observed that one of the motorcycles did not have a license plate and tried to make a traffic stop. The motorcycles then split up and went in different directions. The motorcycle without the license plate refused to stop and actually struck the police cruiser as it fled the parking lot. The officer began to pursue the motorcycle which went north bound on High Street at a high rate of speed. The driver quickly lost control and crashed near the intersection of High Street and Reimer Road. Wadsworth EMS responded. 23-year old Janko Sudicki of Wadsworth, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
The second motorcycle was spotted a short time later by an officer of the Norton Police Department and the driver was arrested after a short foot pursuit. The driver was identified as Ryan A. Coy, age 23 of Mayfield Heights.
