A woman convicted of posing as a veterinarian will spend an additional six months in prison related to two felony stolen property charges.

reports Brandi Tomko was sentenced in Medina County Common Pleas Court Monday morning.

A court official said Tomko admitted to receiving money from two stolen checks.

Tomko was first sentenced to 18 months in prison on March 15 in Summit County Court. She was convicted of eight charges, including fraud and identity theft.

Akron police said she injured and killed pets while posing as a veterinarian at C&D Animal Hospital in Akron.

The Akron woman accused of posing as a veterinarian and treating animals - including surgeries - has been found guilty of several charges.  36 year old Brandi Tomko will be sentenced next month.  Her conviction follows a three day bench trial before Summit County Commmon Pleas Court Judge Pual Gallagher. 

Tomko of Ridge Road in Akron, was found guilty of Identity Fraud, Forgery, all felonies  three counts of Prohibitions Concerning Companion Animals, Practicing without a License and two counts of Theft.

Tomko also pleaded guilty to Aggravated Possession of Drugs, and Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments.

Tomko denied the accusations while taking the stand Thursday.

She will be sentenced March 15 at 10 am.

"Fake Vet" To Appear In Court Again

The woman accused of pretending to be a veterinarian will be going back to court for a pretrial hearing.

35-year old Brandi Tomko will have her final pretrial in Judge Paul Gallagher's courtroom at 10 a.m. this morning.

Tomko is accused of treating and operating on animals at the now-closed C&D Animal Hospital on Brittain Road in Akron.

She faces numerous counts of animal cruelty, identity fraud, and practicing without a license, despite having no formal veterinary training.

The story broke in April when Kenny Reymann shared with the media the details of the death of his beloved dog "Charlie."

Tomko has pleaded not guilty to all charges and will go on trial September 11.

Accused "Fake Vet" Facing New Charge

The woman accused of posing as a fake veterinarian  is facing a new charge in connection with the death of a Persian Gulf war veteran's service dog in 2011.

The Beacon Journal reports 35-year-old Brandi Ann Tomko has been indicted on a third-degree felony charge for allegedly assaulting and harassing an assistance dog.

The dog, belonging to Bob McGee of Akron, died last October as a result of the alleged assault.

The latest indictment also includes one count of felony theft and four counts of animal cruelty. Those charges arose after formal complaints were filed by local pet owners.

Tomko is accused of treating animals at the now-closed C & D Animal Hospital on Brittain Road in Akron.

She has been charged with 39 counts of animal cruelty, identity fraud, and practicing without a license, even though she had no formal veterinary training.

The woman accused of posing as a fake veterinarian  faced two of her accusers during her pre-trial hearing.

News Channel 5 is saying 35-year old Brandi Tomko faced a pair of pet owners who say she is responsible for their dogs' deaths during a special meeting.

One of the pet owners, Bob McGee of Akron, says his dog was also treated by Tomko and had to be put down after getting treatment for diabetes.

McGee, a disabled Persian Gulf veteran says his dog Allie was not just a companion, but a service dog that helped him with his day-to-day tasks.

Akron Police say Tomko treated animals at the now-closed C & D Animal Hospital on Brittain Road in Akron.

McGee came forward after dog owner Kenny Reymann shared his story with the media earlier in the year.

Tomko, who is currently out on bond,  is charged with 33 counts of animal cruelty, identity fraud, and practicing without a license, even though she had no formal veterinary training.

She will be arrainged on new charges May 14th.

"Fake Vet" Appears In Akron Court

The woman accused of posing as a fake veterinarian appeared in court Monday for her arraignment.

35-year-old Brandi Tomko faced her accusers in Summit County Commons Pleas Court after she was accused of pretending to be a vet at the now-closed C&D Animal Hospital on Brittain Road in Akron according to NewsChannel 5.

Tomko is charged with animal cruelty, identity fraud, and practicing without a license, even though she had no formal veterinary training.

The news station says a small group of protesters had gathered outside the courthouse asking for tougher laws on those who are convicted of animal cruelty. However, they were not allowed inside the courthouse.

Kenny Reymann, who says Tomko is responsible for his dog's death. says he hopes she'll be brought to justice.

Reymann's dog  "Charlie" spent three nights at the hospital and died the morning after he picked him up. One cat was put down after Tomko attempted to de-claw it.

Akron Police are saying Tomko drew blood, wrote prescriptions for animals and performed surgeries She allegedly bought heroin with money from the clinic.

Brandi Tomko is currently in the Summit County Jail. Her next court appearance is  scheduled for April 30.
