A Mueller Electric Company employee was arrested after police said he stole nearly $50,000 worth of copper material.
Gregory M. Chambers, 36, of Akron, admitted to Akron Police Detectives that he stole copper clips and spools of wire from the company while he was an employee.
Authorities say Chambers sold the items to City Scrap in Kenmore.
Mueller Electric reported a loss of about $47,000.
Chambers was arrested and charged with felony theft.
A FirstEnergy electrician is in hot water for allegations that he stole $28,000 worth of copper materials.
31-year old Jesse Hensel of Clinton is now facing theft charges in connection with stealing copper cables and bus bars from various company yards and job sites.
Police say he would then take the copper materials to local scrap yards for cash. Hensel turned himself in around 9:00 this morning and was booked into the Summit County Jail.
Hensel was employed with First Energy for nearly four years.
