An Akron mother's displeasure with the use of "O-M-G" on a billboard highlighting Akron Children's Hospital is spurring the institution to drop the text-speak in future advertising.
Cindy Orley first blogged that the phrase -- commonly text shorthand for "Oh My God" -- was disrespectful. She tells WKYC Channel 3's Eric Mansfield she had plenty of feedback from others who also found it "disgusting," and she shared that feedback with Children's Hospital.
The shelf life on the Montrose billboard, visibile to westbound travelers on Ohio Route 18 (Medina Road) between the Taco Bell and McDonald's, is only until October 2 when it's scheduled to be replaced with a new message.
