Alliance Police Department Smells Better

With some help from the Stark County Crime Lab, the Alliance Police Department is smelling a little better after last week's large marijuana bust.

The more than 260 marijuana plants taken from an Alliance home early last week had to be stored in the department's property room because the Stark County Crime Lab didn't have enough room.

"The crime lab helped us out with some very thick paper bags that helped seal [the plants] better," said Lt. John Jenkins. "And after a couple of days it's not quite as strong anyways, so you can't even tell when you walk into the building."

Jenkins said once the case is over, the department will get a destruction order where they then can officially destroy the plants.

"A lot of times, we'll take it down to a foundry and it can get dropped into molten steal and it's just gone, instantly."

So...did the department end up getting all the air fresheners they requested from the public on Facebook?

"To my knowledge, we didn't receive any. We may have, but I don't know. It was more of a joke than anything."
