Akron Police Investigate Shootings

Akron Police are investigating two separate shootings that occurred in the city Monday night.

The first shooting occurred around 5:30 pm near the intersection of Lovers Lane and Beardsley Street. The victim, Marquis D. Dees, 19, of Cole Avenue, reported he was walking on Lovers Lane when he heard a gunshot. Dees then realized he was shot in the right arm. He managed to flag down a car. The driver then took him to a hospital for treatment.

The second shooting occurred shortly after 11pm in the 800 block of Storer Avenue. People in two vehicles, a silver minivan and a black SUV, were firing shots at each other. A stray bullet, hit a house on Storer Avenue, went through the window and struck an 80 year old man in the leg. The victim was treated on scene by paramedics and did not require hospitalization.

Anyone with information on the shootings is asked to call the Akron Police Detective Bureau.
