One Akron City Councilman will be turning his attention towards making Summit County a better place to live.

Ward 8's Phillip Montgomery will be running for Summit County Council District 4 seat at the end of 2012. He says that through the process of being a Councilman, he developed a passion for public service.

"I enjoyed the process of being a Ward 8 Councilman and want to continue serving the community by hopefully representing District 4, which includes Ward 8, Highland Square, and some of the downtown area."

Montgomery says he'll make a public announcement on Wednesday. He says will run against veteran incumbent Frank Comunale.

Montgomery says that if elected, he will continue to maintain the good relationship between the county and social services agencies.

"The job of Summit County in my opinion, is to focus on social services and economic development projects," he says.

"I'm a supporter of the veterans, children's services, and other organizations, and the County needs these services to function at their highest level."

As a  member of the ADM Board of Directors, Montgomery knows that providing quality social services is essential for Summit County residents.

He says that with his audit background, he could help the County with fiscal issues.

For Frank Comunale, he will run for reelection. He says that he'll run passionately on his end.
