The Medina Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal two-car crash along State Route 18 in Granger Township.
29-year old Chad Nelson of Columbus died shortly after the crash according to the State Highway Patrol.
A car driven by 20-year-old Gilberto Ralios crossed the center line and crashed into another car, around 5:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
Ralios was alone in his car. Nelson was a passenger in a 1996 Chrysler LHS driven by 34-year-old Eric Kaskevic of Strongsville.
As Ralios' Ford Fusion caught fire, he was freed by two people who stopped to assist at the scene of the crash. Kaskevic was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center where he remains in fair condition.
Both Ralios and Nelson were taken to Akron General Medical Center. There is no word on Ralios' condition. Nelson later died from his injuries at the hospital.
Troopers say alcohol use appears to be a factor in the crash.
