A dog found in Valley City is recovering after being shot with an arrow through both sides of his chest.

The Akron Beacon Journal reports a Valley City resident called the Medina County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) once he found the dog in his yard Sunday.

The German shepherd is doing well after his surgery, but a possible infection is still a big concern.

It is still unknown how the dog was shot in the chest.
